Kenan Farrell has been selected as one of Indianapolis Business Journal’s 2012 Forty Under 40. Criteria included the level of success nominees have achieved in their chosen field, their accomplishments in the community and the likelihood that they will stay in Indianapolis and build on those achievements.

Art & Museum Law Round 2, plus Fashion Law (?)

I’m pleased to report that I’ve been invited to teach Art & Museum Law again in the fall. Additionally, I’m considering submitting a course proposal for “Fashion Law” for Spring 2013. Either that, or merge the two this fall into Art & Fashion Law. I have to give more thought to whether that would be too much material to cover in a two-credit course. Maybe a three-credit course is the way to go. Either way, looks like another busy summer for Prof. Farrell.

KLF Legal is pleased to announce that Kenan L. Farrell has been named an “Indy’s Best and Brightest” finalist in the category of law.

Junior Acheivement of Central Indiana, Inc. recognizes annually 100 young professionals who live or work within the city of Indianapolis as “Indy’s Best and Brightest” finalists. These professionals are selected for the recognition based on their meaningful professional accomplishments; their ability to positively affect others; and their display of leadership qualities within the workplace or community. The awards selection committee, chaired by KPMG LLP, will select ten winners to be announced at the “Indy’s Best and Brightest” awards presentation at the Robert Irsay Pavilion on October 12, 2011.

“Employees have been getting fired since the beginning of employment for saying things that were against their companies’ policies,” said Farrell. “There’s really no such thing as a personal Twitter account. It’s personal in the sense that he went and signed up for it, it wasn’t a work account, but every Twitter account by the very nature of it is a public account.”

Kenan Farrell, an expert in social media law, said finding the hacker may prove difficult, but that doesn’t necessarily preclude the victim from taking action against false information.

“Just because you say something anonymously on the Internet doesn’t make it any less a defamatory comment,” Farrell said. “The reality is that laws that exist offline also apply online.”
